You've got questions...we've got answers.
I thought the trash program was mandated. How can you help?
It is true that the recycLA program is mandated for commercial properties in the City of Los Angeles, but there are certain aspects of your trash handling that you can still control. These aspects are among the most costly items on your bill - Distance/Access fees under the Extra Services section of the recycLA charges. In fact, Section 7.4 of the "Personal Services Contract" between the city and the haulers specifically states that the haulers "shall offer" these services, but does not mandate customer use of them. Because it does not technically constitute "trash hauling", which is what the language of City Ordinance #182986 governs, Dirty Enterprise can lower your bills by eliminating the Access Fees and significantly lowering what you pay for Distance.
OK, but how much can I really save?
It really depends on your current service level. Email Us with your current trash bill now and we can tell you exactly how much you will save. Our average client saves more than $1,000/month, but we have clients who are saving $5,000+ every month. To date, we have saved our clients more than $2 MILLION in distance and access fees.
Why did the city initiate this recycLA program?
Los Angeles city leaders promised cleaner streets, zero waste, less pollution, and lots of other great environmental benefits as a result of this great new program. While many those things have come to be. The reality is, as with most governmental programs, that it boils down to revenue. The city of Los Angeles receives 12% of whatever the trash haulers collect as a "Franchise Fee", in addition to the fees and taxes already being levied on you. It means millions in additional revenue for the city every single year.
How do I know who my hauler should be?
Los Angeles Officials divvied up the city into 11 zones, assigning a hauler to each zone. There are searchable maps on the sanitation department's new website, www.recycLA.com, that can tell you exactly which hauler services your location. Those zones are as follows:
Athens Services | West L.A., North Central, and Harbor |
Athens Services. | East Downtown |
NASA Disposal Services Inc | Downtown |
Republic | Northest Valley and South LA |
Universal Waste Systems Inc. | Northeast |
WARE Disposal | Southeast |
Waste Management | West Valley and Southeast LA |
